Heart to Hearth Cookery

After the macaroni is boiled with the cream, butter and flour for the receipt (recipe) Maccaroni, a water plate needs to be prepared to send it to the table as it soon grows cold.  Pictured is water that has been boiled in the everted saucepan and a wood funnel in the hole of the original pewter water plate.  The hot water keeps the plate warm for service to table.
